Accessorize Your Bedroom To Match Your Decor

Accessorize Your Bedroom To Match Your Decor
Perhaps the most important part of decorating your bedroom is getting the right accessories for the style of bedroom that your are going for. Getting this one detail right can make or break your new bedroom design and every style has accessories that will help make it shine. Here’s some tips on accessories you might want to include in your bedroom interior design.

Rustic Decor

For that rustic look that goes with a country, log cabin or lodge style decor make sure to add in a variety of wooden bowls and baskets together with old snowshoes and other camp gear. You might even try certain vintage lodge style blankets in traditional black and red plaid or stripes to add some punch to your bedroom. If you are really brave, you might add some taxidermy mounts which will certainly add a unique look to your bedroom.

Tropical Decor

For tropical or safari style rooms you want to be sure to add in lots of jungle animal prints as well as silk or real plants. Sprinkle in some knick knacks of exotic animals like zebras, lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes and monkeys. Palm tree accessories such as lamps, mirrors and even table stands can help bring the wilds of the jungle into your bedroom.

Romantic Decor

Romantic styles like Victorian, Tuscan, French and Shabby Chic go great with antiques and feminine yard sale finds. Fill the bedroom with elegant vases filled with flowers and put lots of flower paintings or prints on the walls. This look begs for drippy crystals so be sure to have a chandelier or table lamps with lots of crystal prisms. Combine that all with some chippy painted items and you’ll have a look fit for a magazine.

Contemporary Decor

With contemporary or modern bedrooms less is better, but that doesn’t mean the room should be totally void of accessories. Some strategically placed items that have straight clean lines can really add interest. Think about adding a single plain vase with one flower in it, or a simple floral arrangement that is linear in style. A couple of interesting art glass pieces can really add some punch to this style as well.

No matter what style you choose for your bedroom, the accessories are important. Look in decorating magazines and books to see what accessories the decorators put in the rooms that have the same style you are going for. You can buy accessories for less money at consignment stores and yard sales – no one has to know that you got them second hand!

Bring the Exotic Desert to Your Bedroom With a Moroccan Theme

Bring the Exotic Desert to Your Bedroom With a Moroccan Theme
When you think of a Moroccan theme bedroom design, you likely have visions of Bedouin tents, exotic images of desert tents and harems similar to an Aladdin type fantasy look. Well you don’t need to travel to the North Africa country to enjoy the romanticism of Moroccan interior design – you can recreate that look in your very own bedroom!

There are a few key elements to creating that exotic Moroccan theme, those elements are the right color, use of fabrics and the right furniture or accent pieces. The colors most commonly found in this theme can be described as spicy, warm, and jewel toned. On one hand, deep reddish-oranges are very common, but so is a sapphire blue, magenta or even saffron yellow. Just make sure your colors are warm and “sultry”.One of the most recognizable aspects of a Moroccan themed room is in the use of fabrics. If you want to be as close to authentic as possible, using fabrics is a must! Silk draperies, satin throws, or elegant fabrics draped across a chaise lounge or bed post are all great ideas.

The type of furniture used will vary from beds or mattresses that rest completely on the floor or larger beds on elevated platforms complete with a canopy. If you aren’t looking to totally replace your existing furniture, consider making or purchasing a netted canopy to hang over the head of your bed. This accessory can be found at most bedding stores for less than fifty dollars. It adds exotic style to your bedroom without spending a ton of money. You can complete your look with a few well placed accent pieces. Over sized seating cushions add authenticity and create a place to lounge. Lamps and candles are also a really important part of the theme. Candle holders and wall sconces with Arab influences can be found online or at stores like Pier 1 Imports. It’s ok to be eclectic when creating your look – so have fun with it.

Practical Tips For Boys Bedroom Design

Practical Tips For Boys Bedroom Design
Boys bedroom design can be challenging and unless your little guy has shown a great interest in one thing over the other, chances are you’ll still be making the interior decorating ideas from him. With a little openness to your little guys ideas and tastes, you may be able to gather from him what you need to create a bedroom that he’ll really enjoy for many years to come.

Unless you have some personal objection, it may be a good idea to start with his favorite color. When you’ve ascertained the color from him, you have just found which color you should paint his room. Other than that, you’ll probably have to do most of the decision making for him. If he hasn’t shown a great interest in anything in particular yet, this simply means that he’s taking his time deciding and you shouldn’t put too many other characters in his room because he may decide that he doesn’t like them. The last thing you want is for your child to feel uncomfortable in his own bedroom because he/she doesn’t like the pictures you put up in their room.

When you’ve chosen the color, decide whether you want wallpaper and paint in his room. Paint, more popular, is easy to apply and dries relatively quickly. Wallpaper, well, don’t get me started. Hours of scrubbing and pulling at wallpaper because it’s seriously stuck to the wall is no fun. Much easier to take a new color and replace the old with the new. Once the color or wallpaper is chosen and on the walls, the rest of your job for your boys bedroom design will be easy to complete.

Other than paint color, a nice decorative touch is to choose something that he’s shown interest in and build on that for his decor. If he loves to play with airplanes, maybe put a few model airplanes up in his room hanging from the ceiling. If he loves to play with pianos, maybe a wallpaper border of musical piano keys around the top of the walls in his room will be more appropriate. Whatever his tastes are, it’s a good idea to build on those. He will be spending a lot of time in this room as he grows; therefore, he should be comfortable in it. Yet, if he really hasn’t shown interest in one thing over another, then maybe just a color is enough for now. Decorative touches can always be added as his developing tastes choose a favorite.

Boys can be difficult when it comes to decorating. They are interested in the world around them and playing and having fun. It can be hard to get them to nail down items that they prefer, yet when they do, these can make for a wonderful boys bedroom design in which your little guy will spend some of the most important years of his life.
